Supreme Court of Canada unanimously strikes down life without parole for mass murderers

The ruling determined the punishment is cruel and unusual and therefore illegal under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It comes in the case of a man who killed six Muslim worshippers at a Quebec City mosque in 2017, and affects at least 18 others sentenced since 2011
